The Portraits I love

I’ve noticed recently how often people want us to create formal, elegant portraits of themselves and their loved ones. Now, more than ever, our clients are wearing rich fabrics and beautiful jewelry when we create our classic studio portraits. Perhaps it’s because they recognize that these portraits are indeed works of art that simply do not go out of fashion.

I’ve never been one to follow the latest fads and trends in portraiture. While Anne Geddes did make pictures of children in flowerpots fashionable for a season, I still feel that a portrait that captures the natural innocence of a child will satisfy you so much more in the long run. I’m most challenged AND inspired when I work in the beautiful classic style inspired by the master painters. These idealized images convey a sense of timeless elegance.

Your portrait need not be complicated. Sometimes simplicity is best. Our Simply Elegant portraits can be among the most challenging and satisfying for me to create, drawing out the emotion and character of a number of people in one visual image.

Because so many people have trusted me to create their portraits, I’ve been able to enjoy doing what I love best – creating graceful, timeless portraits. I look forward to seeing you when it’s time to have your first Brandes Portrait made, or when it’s time to update your portrait as your family has changed.
