Classic Portraits for a Contemporary Culture
It has been satisfying to see so many young couples and families coming to me for Salon Portraits lately. This summer, we created an incredible portrait of David and Rachel Seymour.
In choosing the style and mood of this portrait, there were a number of directions we could have gone. David and Rachel are both musicians and, though they live in Los Angeles, David is a marketing specialist for an internet publishing company in San Francisco. He has full-sleeved tattoos and a love for English literature. His wife, Rachel, is currently in the regional competition for next season’s American Idol, and is a beautiful young woman.
No strangers to contemporary culture, this young couple wanted an image that would capture something of their personalities and their lives together. Both of them appreciate the enduring beauty of classic portraiture and I was excited to create an image that contrasted their youthful attitude and style with the exaggerated classic pose and environment.
You can view images like these in person at the Shops at Mission Viejo, where we will be displaying them until October 31st. Of course, we would love to meet you personally to begin talking about your portrait, and how best to style it. Give us a call at the studio at 805.367.8100 or 949.515.5140.
